This painting, “Rescue at Depoe Bay’, by June Hunt., is dedicated to the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard. The original 18x24 painting is oil on canvas. It was painted from a picture that I took from the bridge over the entrance of Depoe Bay, Oregon, known as the world’s smallest navigable harbor. Boats must wait until the wave action is just right before entering or exiting the harbor. This is called "Crossing the Bar". Limited Edition Prints of this painting will consist of 50 Large (16x20), and 100 Medium (11x14).
An artist for over thirty years, June Hunt began painting while living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She has had the opportunity to travel extensively, and her paintings reflect the wildlife and landscapes of several different regions of the world, including Canada, Africa, and Europe, as well as many locations in the U.S. Though largely self-taught, she was a fine-arts major at Wichita State University, and has taken classes with nationally acclaimed artists, including Hugh Greer, Jean Grastorf, and John Seerey-Lester. Her works hang in private collections in the United States, Mexico and Canada. She paints in oils, watercolor, pastel, and acrylic, and also works in glass mosaic.
